What is Yoga Hike?
Yoga Hike allows yoga enthusiasts, of all levels, to enjoy a heightened yoga experience while surrounded by some of the world’s most beautiful natural scenery. These hikes, which continue to grow in popularity, allow participants to enjoy a guided cardio-hike with occasional stops for asanas (yoga poses) at chosen scenic spots. Christopher Howell hosts Yoga Hike every week at different locations.
Why Take a Yoga Hike?
Unlike most yoga classes, held indoors, under florescent lights, being outside connects participants to nature. You get your “Prana” from the earth, trees and the sun.
These unique and unforgettable sessions are perfect for all skill and experience levels, and beginners are welcome and encouraged.
After your Yoga Hike, your senses will be reawakened, giving you a new perspective as you head back to the daily grind with greater ease.
Christopher Howell started Yoga Hike after recovering from cancer. While studying to become a Yoga Therapist with Sundara Yoga Therapy, on his road to full recovery, he vowed share whatever knowledge he gained, to help others find their way back to optimal health, aliveness and authentic happiness.
Having hiked in many beautiful National, State and Municipal Parks Christopher developed a strong connection to nature. He reconnected to a child-like wonder that can only be inspired on a trail. In January of 2015, he began inviting close friends to go on hikes with him and practice Yoga. That has now grown into a business for him. Yoga Hikes are held almost every weekend all over Central Texas. He soon expects to start offering 6-8 Yoga Hikes a month and giving other teachers in the Austin Yoga Community opportunities to teach at these gatherings.
