From Swimming holes to Yoga Hike, there are Plenty of Options for Having Fun Outside – Even When It’s 100-Plus Degrees
Strike a pose with Yoga Hike
Lifelong hiker Christopher Howell first turned to yoga after getting cancer. Inspired to become a yogi himself, he invited friends on sunrise hikes to practice yoga for what soon became a full-fledged business, Yoga Hike. The company offers Saturday hikes to spots like McKinney Falls, Wild Basin Wildlife Preserve, and Violet Crown Trail and occasional excursions as far-flung as Yosemite. Look for the arrival of Yoga Hike’s next evolution, Camp Yoga Hike, later this summer. “Mindfully walking in nature impacts every aspect of one’s life,” Howell says. Bring a yoga mat, water, and hiking shoes.
