Doctors Are Now Issuing Prescriptions to Go Hiking

March 12, 2019

March 12, 2019 By Sarah McHugh

Being in nature is a great way to receive everything that each breath has to offer, in its, pure, natural state. “Fresh air” differs from, in-door air, where all of the nutrients have been manufactured out to build a room to protect us from harsh elements.

“Hiking, swimming, cycling—just getting outdoors and moving have been shown to have dramatically beneficial health effects, but the nature prescription program also taps into a connection with wilderness as a means to provide an easy kind of self-care.” Scottish Doctors Are Now Issuing Presciptions to go Hiking -Justin Housman

Your body is a beautiful gift from nature and beyond. Every breath you take, is nature continuing to sustain that gift.

As you are breathing, “appreciate a passing cloud, plop down in the grass and make a daisy chain. ‘really look at a lichen.’ Stare out to the sea and watch for passing whales. On a brisk, windy and rainy day, stand still, close your eyes and let the wind rush past and ‘feel the exhilaration of wind and rain on your face.’ ” Scottish Doctors Are Now Issuing Presciptions to go Hiking -Justin Housman

Here is another conversation on the subject that I think is worth sharing.

Yoga Hike is completely different than any Yoga I’ve ever done

Christopher is the perfect person for this unusual hybrid of activities because he doesn’t waste a lot of chatter talking about bird or plant species — he lets you experience the hike in silence if that is what you want. Read more “Yoga Hike is completely different than any Yoga I’ve ever done”

Yoga Hike was the perfect start to my weekend.

On my previous yoga attempts, I felt a lot of strain on my wrists. However, this was not the case for Yoga Hike I felt great throughout the entire class! Afterward, I felt so relaxed, yet energized! I highly recommend Yoga Hike to everyone. Read more “Yoga Hike was the perfect start to my weekend.”

Yoga in a studio is great, yoga in nature is greater.

Christopher leads groups on excellent hikes and blends in a yoga practice in inspiring environments. It feels natural and uniquely spiritual. From outward appearances, Christopher is a rugged outdoorsman, but he is a gentle giant and an excellent yoga instructor. Read more “Yoga in a studio is great, yoga in nature is greater.”

I have deeply enjoyed the

I have deeply enjoyed the Yoga Hike experiences I have been involved in. The Yosemite residential retreats have been exceptional! Christopher’s voice is still in my head when I do any kind of stretching saying “take three deep breaths here.” Big Love! Cherie
